Keith's

MEMORIAL CELEBRATION
DINGWALLS
27th OCTOBER, 2005

It was fitting that Keith's 'Celebration' was at Dingwalls. As his daughters said, it was "where Keith spent a lot of time". Dingwalls has actually been revamped & renamed so that Keith's Celebration was in Jongleurs, which many will know from TV & the 'Live at Jongleurs Comedy Club' programmes. It is situated on the canal by Camden Locks, London.

The invitation gave a 'dress code'. As Keith was NEVER a man to 'dress for the occasion' in anything other than what he wanted this was a lovely joke. As his daughters said, "the suggestion for dress code isn't compulsory, just thought it might amuse Keith!"

The evening was fabulously well attended showing just what a wonderful man Keith was.

As Layla & Sevrin stood on stage reading out some of the many unique things about Keith, which made him, who he was. Friends from his many interests spoke about what he meant to them. They included many of his diving friends including those on his final dive. They regaled us with a few of the many funny stories & incidents involving Keith, which had enriched their lives by knowing him, but at times it was clear that they close to tears.

Then there was live music and in between Boss Goodman spun the decks (just like the 'old days').

Among those who attended from the music side of Keith's life were Larry Wallis who performed a song "Forgotten Nights" with lyrics by Mick Farren (music by Lazza) written for the occasion. Another Pink Fairy to play was Martin (Mad Dog) Stone who appeared on stage with Rat Scabies of The Damned with a fine female vocalist. Their chosen song was Marc Bolan's "Get It On" appropriate as the Damned supported T-Rex on their final UK Tour in 1977.

There was also a delightful performance by Maddy Prior, backed by Martin Carthy from Steel Eye Span. Nick Lowe also played with one song a duet with Paul Carrick (Mike & The Mechanics, Squeeze).

As his daughters said: He'd have hated a big party, but at the same time, he'd be chuffed. I'm sure he was :-)

Keith will be SO missed by us and all those who knew him.

Love & Thoughts go to his two Daughters.

KEITH'S GUARDIAN OBITUARY

At Keith Morris's Memorial Celebration Guests received a poster which was the Obituary Page from The Guardian (A Quality UK Newspaper for non-UK readers) from Saturday 10th September 2005. This has been scanned (in sections & then 're-assembled')

It says a lot about Keith's standing that his Obituary is almost three times as big as that for Ex-Prime Minister Edward Heath (also reproduced on both the poster & the scan).
